DELIGHT IN THE LORD

To delight in something means to take great pleasure in it, to find satisfaction in something you choose.
Psalm 37:4 says....Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

The scripture tells us in many verses that the Lord God delights in us i.e. Psalm 18:19...19 He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.  35:27...“The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant.” There are more. God uniquely forms each one of us in our mothers wombs to be one of his children. Everyone of us is different in looks and personality, in soul and spirit. We are created for two purposes, to be in relationship with Him and to bring Him glory.

So how do we fulfill these two purposes?
It is not enough to ask him for forgiveness one time, and then keep doing what we have always done. It is not even enough to attend church on a regular basis. ( Although I must add that we need to be around other believers regularly) Because it is not about what we do, but who we are becoming. The Lord's Father heart wants us to choose Him! To see all the world around us, and want Him to be the center of our lives. To find all of our pleasure, satisfaction and contentment in walking with Him.

I want to delight myself in the Lord.  It is not a one time commitment for me, but it is a day by day choice to walk with God. Some days it is work to grab myself by the lapels and say, "You will walk after God today. You will spend time in the Word and in His Presence." Other days I awake with His praises on my lips ready to push back the darkness and be a child full of His light. Most of the time I simply do what I know is right to do, read the Word and ask for His presence to be with me. But I am in for the long haul! There is no option for me besides following him. He is the answer for every situation I find myself in, and therefore there is no where else I would rather be!

Listen to these verses in Job 22: 21 “Submit to God, and you will have peace; then things will go well for you.22 Listen to His instructions, and store them in your heart.23 If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored–so clean up your life.24 If you give up your lust for money and throw your precious gold into the river,25 the Almighty Himself will be your treasure. He will be your precious silver! 26 “Then you will take delight in the Almighty and look up to God.27 You will pray to Him, and He will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows to Him.28 You will succeed in whatever you choose to do, and light will shine on the road ahead of you.

I will make the decision today...and tomorrow...and the next day to submit to Him, listen to Him, hide His words in my heart, to make him the treasure of my heart. Yes I choose to delight myself in the Lord. How about you?
