B-BUILD

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' Blood and righteousness. I dare to make no other claim but wholly trust in Jesus' name.  On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand!

A hymn that declares the gospel truth!  When we are building our lives to be able to walk through all the storms and turmoil of life, if Jesus is not in our foundational beliefs, we are in trouble.  I don't know how people walk through life only depending on themselves or others.  I have learned through life that only my Heavenly Father is trustworthy!  Actually the Bible tells us, to love others, but to put our trust in only God!

Jesus told a parable at the end of the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew chapters 5-7 about the wise and foolish builders. 7: 24-27... "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.  But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.  The rain came down, the streams rose and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

If we refuse to know God and His word, to apply it to our lives, we are building our whole life in sinking sand.  If you have ever been to the beach and try to walk in soft sand you understand how hard it is!  Your feet sink, and it is hard to get any traction for the next step.  It slows you way down. Life and its problems slows us down.  We feel mired down and it is easy to get discouraged, feel all alone and give up hope.

But when Jesus is in our life we ALWAYS have HOPE!  His foundation in our life brings PEACE that passes our own understanding, JOY inside that stands even in difficult times, HOPE that He has our backs and will work all things out for our good, LOVE that never gives up on us...and so much more.  We BUILD a foundation that is solid when we read His word, believe it, and let is direct our steps in this life!  He has given us so many promises that allow us to overcome all the wiles of the devil and stand against all evil!! 

I am building my life on the solid foundation!  How about you??

SHEPHERD'S STAFF

      I have a staff in my office that I bought several years ago at a Jewish Festival. It has a lion's head on the top and for a long time it just sat in my office.  One Sunday morning, when I was in charge of the service, I was deeply offended by something that happened before service. I had to get up and preach.  I knew that I could not go out and preach if I didn't let this go and have a clear conscience before God.  I had about a half hour before service was to begin to talk to God about what I was feeling.  I saw that staff sitting there and I grabbed it and began to write the names of God on it.  All the names of who God was for me.  It brought me comfort and reminded me of how good He was to me, of how much He loved me.  That staff still sits in my office and reminds me of who God is for me. SERVING

Have you had this experience, ask someone for help to set up, tear down, take a Sunday School class, help with an event and their response is, " I will have to pray and see if this is God's will".  What I see in our churches today is people doing nothing because they don't want to be out of God's will.  Father has plans and purposes for each one of us.  Some of those plans are personal for each one of us...and some are expectations for us all.  For instance, it is God's will for each one of us to be conformed into the image of Jesus Christ. To look more like Jesus, we will have to be willing to let the Holy Spirit point out what isn't Christlike and help form those things within us that need to be.
